Step 1: Prepare The Heater

Before starting the process of resetting the Eemax Tankless water heater, you need to prepare the water heater for that. It starts with cooling down the water heater. Look for the switch that provides power to the water heater. It’s usually a switch on the wall or near the heater itself. Turn that switch off. Also, unplug the water heater from the wall socket.

After that, wait until the water heater cools down before attempting anything. This is an important safety measure. 

Step 2: Drain And Remove The Heater

When you feel that the water inside the heater is cool to the touch, you have to start the draining process and remove the heater. Here’s how to do it. 

1. First, open a hot water faucet in your home. Turn on the faucet and let the hot water come out of it. Allow the water to run until it’s not hot anymore.
2. After that, find the inlet pipe or the pipe that brings cold water to the water heater. Turn off the valve on this pipe. This will stop more cold water from going into the heater.
3. Now, stop the hot water faucet. 
4. Take off the pipes that are connected to the water heater. There’s one pipe that brings hot water in and another that takes the cold water out. Disconnect them both.
5. If you can, try to get rid of any water that’s left inside the heater. You can do this by using a tube to suck it out.
6. If the water heater is fixed to a wall, carefully remove it from there. Remember that the heater is heavy, so you should have another person for help. 
7. Tilt the water heater carefully to let any water inside it come out.

Step 3: Take Off The Bottom Cover

The heater has a cover at the bottom. Now that you have successfully drained the water heater, You’ll need to remove the cover. This cover is held in place by some screws or clips depending on the Eemax Water Heater model. Carefully unscrew the screws or unclip the clips to take off the cover.

1. If your heater is connected to a GFI (ground fault interrupter), unplug it from there.
2. If it’s not connected to a GFI, you can turn off the breaker that supplies power to the heater.
3. Whichever method you use, the goal is to stop the power going to the heater. Leave it off for about 30 seconds to let it reset.
